A gravel ride along the Vaal River near Barkly West — the site of South Africa's first diamond discovery in 1867 (the Eureka diamond). The route follows the river bank on farm access roads through the historic alluvial diamond digging sites, still actively worked by small-scale diggers. The Vaal River gorge, ancient fig trees and the unchanged landscape of the 1860s diamond rush make this an extraordinary historical gravel ride.
