One of South Africa's hardest and most celebrated gravel routes — the Tankwa Karoo. The route traverses the Tankwa Karoo National Park and surrounding farm roads through what many consider the most remote and desolate landscape in the country. The Ouberg Pass (one of SA's most dramatic mountain passes), Matjiesfontein salt pan and the Wolfskop section define this epic. Burnbrae Pass and the Nieuwoudtville plateau complete a circuit used by the Tankwa Gravel Race.
