Listing best practices — sell faster, sell for more
Good photos, clear specs, honest condition. The three things that move bikes on CrankMart.
The difference between a listing that sells in a week and one that sits for months is almost always: photos, specs, and price.
Photos
- Take at least 6 photos in natural daylight (outdoors works best)
- Both sides + drivetrain close-up + cockpit — buyers want to see the actual mechanical condition
- Show all damage honestly — scratches, paint chips, worn brake pads. Surprise damage on arrival is the #1 source of disputes.
- No stock images — buyers know when a photo isn't yours
Pricing
- Check what comparable bikes are selling for on CrankMart's Browse page
- Decide whether you're willing to accept offers — if not, mark it "Firm"
- Account for TradeSafe fees (small % deducted from your sale price) when setting expectations
Specs
Every category has a spec section. Fill in every field you can — it's how buyers filter and search.
For bikes, the high-impact fields are:
- Frame size (S / M / L / XL — or measured cm if you have it)
- Year
- Frame material (Carbon / Aluminium / Steel / Titanium)
- Groupset (Shimano 105, GRX, SRAM Force, etc.)
- Wheel size
- For e-bikes: motor + battery
Description
- Lead with why you're selling — buyers like to know
- Mention any upgrades and any services (e.g. "fresh chain", "service at MyCycle Sept 2025")
- Note what's included (pedals? cages? spare tubes?)
- Be honest about what's NOT included — original receipt, spare parts, etc.
Title
Keep it scannable: Year · Brand · Model · Size. Example: "2023 Specialized Roubaix Comp · 56cm".
After it's listed
- Respond to messages within a few hours — slow replies kill deals
- If the bike sells, mark it sold straight away so you stop getting messages
- Once you have an order, ship promptly (within 2-3 business days is the norm)
