A flat road loop from Klerksdorp through the gold-mining towns of Orkney, Stilfontein and Hartbeesfontein in the South West Gauteng/North West goldfields. The route passes gold mine shaft towers, tailings dams and the wide Vaal River approaches. Klerksdorp is one of South Africa's oldest gold-rush towns (1837) and the route's gold-mining industrial landscape is uniquely South African.
