About this Route

A mixed road and gravel route looping the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve south-east of Joburg from Heidelberg town. The route follows the reserve boundary on farm roads and reserve management tracks, climbing the distinctive quartzite ridges of the Suikerbosrand for Highveld panoramas. Wildlife including blesbuck, kudu and zebra are frequently sighted along the reserve fence. A genuine rural escape within 60 km of Joburg.
