The full road classic loop through the Golden Gate Highlands National Park — one of South Africa's most visually dramatic cycling environments. The route links Clarens, the Golden Gate park entrance, Glen Reenen rest camp and the Brandwater area on the R712 and R26. Towering golden sandstone cliffs, Rooiberge mountains and open highland meadows at 2,000 m create cycling scenery unlike anywhere else in the country. Eland, blesbok and black wildebeest roam the park.
